It has been deployed in home defense, civil riots, disasters and combat theaters in almost every conflict. The shotgun has a commanding presence in a fight.
The 2-Day Defensive Shotgun is a beginner to advanced course. To start with this is a defensive /fighting shotgun class. It is not about sport shooting or hunting and everyone starts with basics and then advances. This class covers critical gun-handling skills specific to the defensive shotgun. Marksmanship skills unique to the defensive shotgun. Recoil management specific to the defensive shotgun. There will be emphasis placed on keeping the shotgun up and running and finding the balance between speed and accuracy. Students will pattern test and learn how their individual shotgun patterns buckshot at close, intermediate, and longer distances as well as point-of-aim/point-of-impact with slugs. Shooting range from near zero to 100 yards.
Day-1; Shotgun handling, Loading, Shot to Slug change out, Weapons retention, deployment from slung positions, Patterning and slug accuracy in afternoon live fire.
Day-2; Live fire, positional shooting, Extended range, Close range. Target transition, shooting from cover, shooting on the move. Conduct live load change, Combat reloads, Failure drills and stoppage.
